John Anderton is a Singer/Songwriter originally from London but now based in Wigan. Although varied, John's style of music could be classed as modern folk/rock with an occasional touch of blues thrown in, focusing heavily on story telling in each song. John's subtle influences come from artists such as David Gray, Justin Curry (Del Amitri) and Fran Heally (Travis).
Before making the exciting decision to perform as a solo artist John had enjoyed many years as the lead singer of various bands most recently being The Lonestars in which he teamed up with Chris Lahey (founder member of 80's band The Icicle Works) and regularly performed throughout the North of England. Since going solo John has enjoyed an ever increasing fan base and now regular gigs in and around North West.
Recently John recorded a live acoustic album (iTunes & Spotify) he aptly named Songs From The Kitchen Table so called because to date that's where he writes most of his songs! He has also had the pleasure of supporting many various artists and was particularly pleased and proud when he was ask to support Roachford (famed for his 90's hit Cuddly Toy) during the Northern leg his UK tour.
Since his first visit to Semitone Studios John has been back into the recording studio which resulted in the release of two new tracks, ‘Nothing To Say’ & ‘Caroline’ both of which have had extensive plays on numerous radio stations. John has also recently picked up a ‘Showman’s’ award from a national singer/songwriter production company for a performance at Media City in Manchester for which he was most grateful.
